the movement continues....

Hola amigos,
This past fall I had the opportunity to take a Conversational Spanish Class at West Side. It was a nine-week course taught by Jennifer Lytle. For years now I've been telling myself I should learn the language because it would be useful at work and, frankly, it would be nice to know what's being said around me. Deep down, I was resistant though. There were negative feelings as a result of experiences and attitudes I had encountered over many years of living and working in this valley. However, the past couple of years, something has been stirring inside of me: a desire to participate in the short-term mission trips to Mexico offered by our church. This past fall I made the commitment to go on my first mission trip.
A transition began to take place. The negativity and resistance was replaced by a positive desire to learn Spanish. When West Side announced that there would be a class, I knew it was more than coincidence. What a blessing to have Jennifer, whose primary language is Spanish, willing to take the time to teach. God's timing and ability to transform never cease to amaze. The class encouraged me to continue learning the language as I prepare for my trip and has helped me to connect in a more meaningful way with my patients. I can't urge and encourage you enough to consider learning Spanish, starting right here at West Side. You will be amazed at how God uses you and that experience for His glory.
In Christ, Daylene Ackerman
